Blu-ray Sales: February 16-22: Nosferatu Takes a Bite Out of Wicked

For the week that ended on February 22nd, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Nosferatu (2024) topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut. The latest version of the vampire tale opened in December 2024 to strong reviews and relative box office success, grossing over $95 million domestically and over $179 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing-film for director Robert Eggers. The film has also seen awards success with five BAFTA nominations and four Oscar nominations at the upcoming Academy Awards. This week, Nosferatu had a strong HD share of 72%, with 37% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Dropping to second place on both charts in its third week is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Wicked (2024). The hotly anticipated film adaptation of the hit 2003 musical topped the box office on its first weekend in November 2024, en route to over $472 million domestically and over $728 million globally so far. Upon opening, the film was revealed to adapt only part of the story, and a sequel, Wicked: For Good, is set to release November 2025. The film has also earned ten nominations at the upcoming Academy Awards, including Best Supporting Actress for Ariana Grande, Best Actress for Cynthia Erivo and Best Picture. This week, Wicked sold 55% as many Blu-ray units as Nosferatu, with an HD share of 53% and 17% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Taking third place on the Blu-ray-only chart is Warner Bros Home Entertainment's Constantine (2005). This first live-action adaptation of the DC Comics character starred Keanu Reeves in the title role and celebrated its 20th anniversary with a new 4K UHD release. This week, Constantine sold 23% as many Blu-ray units as Nosferatu, with an HD share of 100% and 99.9% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Elsewhere on the charts, Warner's The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim debuted at No. 4 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Panic Room, which was finally released on the Blu-ray format via a 4K UHD combo pack release, came in at No. 5. Vertical Entertainment's The Order (2024) debuted at No. 7 and Kino Lorber's Uncle Buck, which was also released on 4K UHD this week, came in at No. 10. Outside the top ten, Kino's Blu-ray of Summer Rental came in at No. 16.

Elsewhere on the UHD Sellers chart, Shout Factory's Humanoids from the Deep 4K (1980) came in at No. 17 and the Criterion Collection's Drugstore Cowboy 4K came in at No. 19.
