Venom: The Last Dance remained atop both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its second week. The third and apparently final entry in Sony's
Venom franchise opened in October 2024 to mixed reviews and box office success, topping the box office on its opening weekend en route to over $139 million domestically and over $478 million worldwide. This week,
Venom: The Last Dance had an HD share of 50%, with 16% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Remaining in second place on both charts is MUBI's
The Substance. The body horror film starring Demi Moore and Margaret Qualley has been a critical success ever since it was nominated for the Palme d'Or and won the Best Screenplay award at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2024. The film also won the Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy for Demi Moore and has been nominated for five Oscars, including Best Actress for Moore, Best Director for Coralie Fargeat and Best Picture. This week,
The Substance sold 47% as many Blu-ray units as
Venom: The Last Dance, with an HD share of 64% and 25% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Moving back up to third place on both charts is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's
The Wild Robot. The latest film from DreamWorks Animation opened in September 2024 to critical and audience success, eventually grossing over $143 million domestically and over $328 million worldwide on a budget of $78 million. This week,
The Wild Robot sold 26% as many Blu-ray units as
Venom: The Last Dance, with an HD share of 63% and 39% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the charts, the Criterion Collection's release of
Winchester '73 (1950) came in at No. 17 on the Blu-ray-only chart.
