Australian label Umbrella Entertainment has revealed an exclusive new restoration of Kate Woods' Looking for Alibrandi (2000), starring Greta Scacchi, Anthony LaPaglia, Elena Cotta, Pia Miranda, and Kick Gurry. The restoration will be made available on Blu-ray early next year.
Label statement: "We are over the moon to reveal a brand NEW restoration of the quintessential Australian coming-of-age comedy LOOKING FOR ALIBRANDI starring Greta Scacchi, Anthony LaPaglia, and Pia Miranda.
Referred to as the original Lady Bird, and based on the most stolen book from local high school libraries, director Kate Woods' poignant dramedy explores generational bonds and in its themes of family identity shares a spiritual sisterhood with Gillian Armstrong's The Last Days of Chez Nous.
Featuring a soundtrack of U2, Silverchair, Spiderbait, and The Church, with cameos from Ned 'Crabs' Manning (Dead End Drive-In) and Graeme Blundell (Alvin Purple), it's a film that has something for everyone: young and old, music-lovers, Sydney-siders, Gerwig-stans, Ozploitation-purists, and more!"
