'
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs: Platinum Edition' was far and away the top-selling title on Blu-ray on the week ended October 11, according to Nielsen VideoScan. In a format first, this BD edition of the classic Disney title (which was released weeks ahead of the equivalent DVD edition, although with a bundled DVD) was also clearly the top title on the overall packaged-media sales chart.
Here is the Blu-ray top 10 (previous-week ranking in parenthesis):
- • Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs
- (2) Monsters vs. Aliens
- (3) X-Men Origins: Wolverine
- (2) The Wizard of Oz
- • Year One
- (5) The Dark Knight
- (r) Watchmen
- • Trick 'r Treat
- (r) Interview with the Vampire
- (9) Gladiator
Regarding Blu-ray share for the new titles, apart from 'Snow White', which obviously had 100%, the title with the biggest percentage of sales from Blu-ray was the horror DTV title '
Trick 'r Treat', with 28%. Comedies '
Year One' and '
My Life in Ruins' got 11% and 5%, respectively.
Overall, BD sales revenue was $32.70 million, up 195.46% from the same week last year. DVD sales revenue was $156.82 million, down 9.88% year-on-year.
Blu-ray accounted for 17.3% of total packaged-media sales revenue.
