Blu-ray Sales: September 22-28: Despicable Me 4, but Bad Boys Ride or Die 4K

For the week that ended on September 28th, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Despicable Me 4 topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut. The latest entry in the animated franchise opened in July 2024 and topped the box office en route to over $360 million domestically and over $958 million worldwide. This week, Despicable Me 4 had an HD share of 48% and 2% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Debuting in second place on both charts is Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Bad Boys: Ride or Die. Also the fourth entry in its own series, the film opened in June 2024 to mixed reviews but topped the box office with over $56 million, eventually grossing over $193 million domestically and over $404 million globally. This week, Bad Boys: Ride or Die sold 80% as many Blu-ray units as Despicable Me 4, with an HD share of 51% and 22% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

And debuting in third place is Decal Releasing's Longlegs. The horror film opened in July 2024 to positive reviews and box office success, placing second only to Despicable Me 4 on its opening weekend and eventually grossing over $108 million worldwide. This week, Longlegs sold 44% as many Blu-ray units as Despicable Me 4, with an HD share of 67% and 30% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Elsewhere on the charts, Paramount Home Media Distribution's Stardust (2007), Arrow Video's Friday the 13th (2009) and Sony's Body Double, all of which were released on 4K UHD this week, came in at Nos. 5, 7 and 9 on the Blu-ray-only chart, respectively, while Sony's Bad Boys: 4-Movie Collection (1995-2024) debuted at No. 10. Outside the top ten, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Mad Max 5-Film Collection 4K (1979-2024) came in at No. 13 and the Criterion Collection's release of Happiness (1998) came in at No. 14 and Discotek Media's anime release of Kite: Integral Version (1998) came in at No. 19.

Elsewhere on the UHD Sellers chart, Kino Lorber's Murder on the Orient Express 4K (1974) came in at No. 10, while outside the top ten, Warner's Friends: The Complete Series 4K (1994-2004) came in at No. 15 and Shout Factory's Village of the Damned 4K (1995) came in at No. 16.
