Blu-ray Propels Rental Revenue to New Highs

According to Rentrak, a dramatic increase in Blu-ray rentals has spurred an overall increase in rental revenue despite tough economic times. Third quarter rental revenue for Blu-ray was up 44.5% over this same period last year, which has, in turn, increased overall rental revenue by 10% for the third quarter.
Brad Hackley, Vice President of Rentrak, commented, "The widespread distribution of Blu-ray titles into the primary rental channel is supporting the rapid adoption of the format by consumers, greater than what we saw on DVD."
