For the week of September 16th, Paramount Home Media Distribution has a Blu-ray and 4K UHD release for Reacher: Season Two (2023-2024), starring Alan Ritchson.

Description: Reacher Season Two begins when veteran military police investigator Jack Reacher (Alan Ritchson) receives a coded message that the members of his former U.S. Army unit are being mysteriously and brutally murdered one by one. Pulled from his drifter lifestyle, Reacher reunites with three of his former teammates turned chosen family to investigate. Together, they begin to connect the dots in a mystery where the stakes get higher at every turn and brings about questions of who has betrayed them—and who will die next.?

Paramount's Blu-ray releases of Reacher: Season Two contain all eight episodes, with DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio.

Also coming from Paramount is the Blu-ray and 4K UHD world premiere of Martin Scorsese's Bringing Out the Dead (1999), starring Nicolas Cage, Patricia Arquette, John Goodman, Ving Rhames, Tom Sizemore and Marc Anthony. Sourced from a new 4K scan of the film's original camera negative, Paramount's release of Bringing Out the Dead is part of the studio's Paramount Presents line, debuting in a 4K UHD and Blu-ray combo pack with a new Dolby Atmos remix and Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD disc (the Blu-ray comes with a Dolby TrueHD 5.1 audio track). New extras include a Filmmaker Focus featurette with Martin Scorsese, as well as featurettes with screenwriter Paul Schrader and cinematographer Robert Richardson and on set featurettes with actors Nicolas Cage, Patricia Arquette, John Goodman, Ving Rhames, Tom Sizemore and Marc Anthony. Also included are legacy extras, including cast and crew interviews and theatrical trailers. Collectible packaging includes a slipcover which opens to reveal original poster artwork.

Coming to Blu-ray from Decal releasing is Benoît Delhomme's Mothers' Instinct (2024), starring Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Josh Charles and Anders Danielsen Lie.

Description: Best friends Alice and Celine both live an idyllic traditional lifestyle, but life's perfect harmony is suddenly shattered after a tragic accident. Guilt, suspicion and paranoia unravel their sisterly bond and a psychological battle begins.

New on Blu-ray from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment is The Crown: The Complete Sixth and Final Season (2023), starring Imelda Staunton, Elizabeth Debicki, Dominic West, Jonathan Pryce, Lesley Manville and Olivia Williams.

Description: In the final season of the groundbreaking series, a relationship blossoms between Princess Diana and Dodi Fayed before a fateful car journey ends in tragedy. Prince William tries to integrate back into life in the wake of his mother's death, and as she reaches her Golden Jubilee, the Queen reflects on the future of the monarchy.

Sony's Blu-ray of The Crown: The Complete Sixth and Final Season contains the extras A Family Saga, Royal Weddings and A Lasting Legacy.

New on Blu-ray from Cinedigm is Lu Qi's animated film Warrior King (雪域少年) (2023), starring Katie Leigh, Richard Epcar, Ian Russell and Stephen Weese.

Description: In this epic true story inspired by the legend of King Gesar, a young man grows up in exile in a world overrun by demons and monsters. When evil forces threaten his home, he returns to save his people and embrace his destiny as great hero and ruler.

New on Blu-ray from Crunchyroll is Masato Tamagawa's anime series The Great Cleric: The Complete Season (雪域少年) (2023), starring Reiji Kawashima, Akio Ôtsuka, Tomoaki Maeno, Daisuke Ono, Rika Kinugawa and Hina Tachibana.

Description: Healing others at no cost, Luciel is making the most of his new life. While unscrupulous healers see him as an enemy, thankful adventurers are training him in exchange for care - training he'll certainly need if he keeps angering the Healer's Guild.

Crunchyroll's Blu-ray of The Great Cleric: The Complete Season is a two-disc set with all twelve episodes. Audio options are original Japanese: Dolby TrueHD 2.0 (with English subtitles) and dubbed English: Dolby TrueHD 5.1. Extras include next episode previews, promo videos and textless opening and ending songs.

Finally for new releases, Acorn Media has a Blu-ray for The Brokenwood Mysteries: Series 10 (2024), starring Neill Rea and Fern Sutherland. The three-disc set contains all six feature-length episodes.

Turning to catalog titles, Kino Lorber have three Blu-ray releases this week, including two box sets from their Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema series. Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XX (1950-1954) contains Mitchell Leisen's Captain Carey, U.S.A. (1950) Lewis Allen's Appointment with Danger (1951) and William A. Seiter's Make Haste to Live (1954), while Film Noir: The Dark Side of Cinema XXI (1946-1957) contains Fritz Lang's Cloak and Dagger (1946), Edward Dein's Shack Out on 101 (1955) and James Cagney's Short Cut to Hell (1957). All films come from 4K scans made between 2020-2023, and include audio commentaries by film historian / screenwriter Gary Gerani (on both Captain Carey, U.S.A. and Short Cut to Hell), Heath Holland, host of the Cereal at Midnight podcast, with Max Allan Collins, author of Road to Perdition (on both Appointment with Danger and Cloak and Dagger) and film historian Samm Deighan (Make Haste to Live) and professor and film scholar Jason A. Ney (Shack Out on 101). Theatrical trailers are also included.

Also coming from Kino is a Blu-ray for Jean Aurel's Les Femmes (1969), starring Brigitte Bardot, Maurice Ronet, Christina Holme, Anny Duperey, Jean-Pierre Marielle and Tanya Lopert. Kino presents Les Femmes with an audio commentary by film critic Manuela Lazic and a theatrical trailer.

Coming to 4K UHD from Arrow Video is Sergio Martino's Torso (I corpi presentano tracce di violenza carnale) (1973), starring Suzy Kendall, Tina Aumont, Luc Merenda, John Richardson, Roberto Bisacco and Ernesto Colli. Sourced from a new 4K scan of the original camera negative by Arrow, they present Torso in both its 94-minute Italian and 90-minute English-language export versions (as well as a 93-minute hybrid English / Italian version not on the Blu-ray), with Dolby Vision HDR and optional English or English SDH subtitles. New extras include alternate Torso titles, but otherwise replicate Arrow's 2018 Blu-ray, with audio commentary by Kat Ellinger, interviews with Sergio Martino, Luc Merenda, co-writer Ernesto Gastaldi, Federica Martino (daughter of Sergio Martino) and author Mikel J. Koven (La Dolce Morte: Vernacular Cinema and the Italian Giallo Film), a Q & A from the 2017 Abertoir International Horror Festival with Sergio Martino and English and Italian theatrical trailers. Limited edition content includes an "illustrated collector's booklet featuring writing on the film by Adrian Smith and Howard Hughes", as well as a reversible cover. Coming to remastered Blu-ray and 4K UHD from Arrow is David Twohy's The Chronicles of Riddick (2004), starring Vin Diesel, Colm Feore, Thandiwe Newton, Judi Dench, Karl Urban and Alexa Davalos. Sourced from a new 4K remaster by Arrow, they present The Chronicles of Riddick in both its 119-minute theatrical version and the 134-minute director's cut, with a new Dolby Atmos remix option on the theatrical version, along with original DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio for both versions and Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD edition. New extras include the feature-length documentary Ambition on Another Scale: Chronicling a Blockbuster Sequel, new interviews with David Twohy, storyboard artist Brian Murray and actor Keith David, and legacy extras for the director's cut, including two commentaries, featurettes, deleted scenes and more. Limited edition content includes a bonus Blu-ray or 4K UHD disc with an open-matte presentation of the theatrical cut, as well as a compilation of cut scenes from the Escape from Butcher Bay video game and the TV special The Lowdown. Additional limited edition content includes an "illustrated collector's booklet featuring new writing on the film by Walter Chaw, original production notes and the 'Chronicles Compendium', an overview of the characters and planets featured in the film", as well as a reversible cover. Finally from Arrow this week is a 4K UHD upgrade for Marcus Nispel's Friday the 13th (2009), starring Jared Padalecki, Danielle Panabaker, Amanda Righetti, Travis Van Winkle, Aaron Yoo and Derek Mears. Sourced from a new 4K remaster by Arrow, they present Friday the 13th in both its 97-minute theatrical version and the 116-minute "Killer Cut", with Dolby Vision HDR and DTS-HD MA 5.1 audio. New extras include two new audio commentaries on the theatrical version:One with Marcus Nispel and another with writers Mark Swift and Damian Shannon, new audio commentary on the Killer Cut by film critics Alexandra Heller-Nicholas and Josh Nelson new interviews with Marcus Nispel, Mark Swift and Damian Shannon and cinematographer Daniel Pearl, a video essay by film critic Matt Donato, and legacy extras, including excerpts from the Terror Trivia Track (taken from the PiP feature of the 2009 Blu-ray), three featurettes, deleted scenes, and promo materials including a teaser, trailer and an electronic press kit. Limited edition content includes an "featuring new writing on the film by Matt Konopka and Alexandra West', a double-sided fold-out poster with original and new artwork and a reversible cover. Note: Amazon.com has currently pushed back the release date of Friday the 13th to next Tuesday (September 24th), but Arrow and other retailers still show this Tuesday (September 17th) as the release date.

Coming to Blu-ray from Raro Video is Fernando Di Leo's Madness (Vacanze per un massacro) (1980), starring Joe Dallesandro, Lorraine De Selle, Patrizia Behn and Gianni Macchia. Raro presents Madness with audio commentary by film historian Troy Howarth and a trailer.

Coming to Blu-ray and 4K UHD from the Criterion Collection is John Mackenzie's The Long Good Friday (1980), starring Bob Hoskins, Helen Mirren, Dave King, Bryan Marshall, Derek Thompson and Eddie Constantine. Sourced from a new 4K master (approved by cinematographer Phil Meheux), Criterion presents The Long Good Friday with LPCM Mono audio and Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD edition. Extras are spread over two Blu-rays and include audio commentary with director John Mackenzie, the feature-length documentary An Accidental Studio (2019) about Handmade Films, an introduction by Criterion Collection curatorial director Ashley Clark, a making of documentary, interviews with Phil Meheux and screenwriter Barrie Keeffe, Hands Across the Ocean, a featurette comparing the soundtracks for the UK and US releases, and both UK and US trailers for the film. Finally this week, Shout Factory has a 4K UHD upgrade for Neil Marshall's Doomsday (2008), starring Rhona Mitra, Bob Hoskins, Adrian Lester, Alexander Siddig, David O'Hara and Malcolm McDowell. Sourced from a new 4K master, Shout present Doomsday with DTS-HD MA 5.1 and 2.0 audio options and Dolby Vision HDR on the 4K UHD disc. Extras include a new audio commentary by author David J. Moore (World Gone Wild: A Survivor's Guide to Post-Apocalyptic Movies), new interviews with Neil Marshall, producer Benedict Carver, actor Craig Conway, production designer Simon Bowles, special effects make-up designer Paul Hyett and composer Tyler Bates, A second Blu-ray includes the unrated cut of the film, along with a new interview with Adrian Lester, filmmaker commentary and lother legacy extras.
