For the week that ended on August 31st, Walt Disney Home Entertainment and 20th Century Studios' Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut. The fourth film since the franchise was rebooted in 2011 (and tenth Planet of the Apes film overall) opened in May 2024 to mostly positive reviews and topped the box office, with over $58 million on its opening weekend and a global haul of over $397 million. Disney and 20th Century Studios further assured the film's success on home media by adding a second version of the film called the "Raw Cut", described by the studio as "a full-length alternative cut with a split-screen comparison between the final cut of the film and a version with unfinished VFX", on a dedicated Blu-ray disc with DTS-HD MA 7.1 sound and its own optional audio commentary track. This week, Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes had an HD share of 60% and 30% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Debuting in second place on both charts is Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's The Garfield Movie. The animated family film, which is the third theatrical release for the famously lazy comic strip cat, opened in May 2024 on the same weekend as Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, but still managed a respectable tally of over $97 million domestically and over $231 million worldwide. This week, The Garfield Movie sold 28% as many Blu-ray units as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, with an HD share of 47%. A 4K UHD edition has not been made available at this time.

Third place on the Blu-ray-only chart went to Sony's Drive (2011) which was released on 4K UHD this week. This week, Drive sold 27% as many Blu-ray units as Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes, with a perfect HD share of 100% and 99% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Elsewhere on the charts, Paramount Home Media Distribution's Star Trek: Discovery - The Final Season (2024) debuted at No. 5 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Watchmen: Chapter 1 debuted at No. 7. Outside the top ten, Warner's The Watchers debuted at No. 13, while Arrow Video's The Mexico Trilogy (1992-2003), a four-disc set which contains remastered Blu-rays of El Mariachi, Desperado (on Blu-ray and 4K UHD) and Once Upon a Time in Mexico, came in at No. 17.

On the UHD Sellers chart, Kino Lorber's Sudden Death 4K (1995) came in at No. 8, while Shout Factory's Poltergeist II: The Other Side 4K came in at No. 9. Outside the top ten, Warner's Watchmen: Chapter 1 4K and The Watchers 4K debuted at Nos. 14 and 17, respectively.
