For the week that ended on August 24th, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga remained on top of both the the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its second week. The prequel tells the origin story of Imperator Furiosa, a character introduced in
Mad Max: Fury Road back in 2015, and while critical reception was positive,
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga failed to find an audience when it opened in May 2024, grossing just over $172 million worldwide on a budget reported to be between $168-$233 million. This week,
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga had an HD share of 56% and 22% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Remaining in second place on both charts in its second week is Paramount Home Media Distribution's
IF. The family fantasy film is the latest to be helmed by actor-turned-director John Krasinski, who also wrote and produced the film alongside fellow actor Ryan Reynolds. Despite the duo putting together a starry cast in both live-action and voice roles,
IF received mixed reviews and also failed to ignite at the box office, taking approximately $190 million worldwide on a reported budget of $110 million. This week,
IF sold 46% as many Blu-ray units as
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, with an HD share of 42% and just 4% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Rising up to third place on the Blu-ray-only chart is Lionsgate Home Entertainment's
Civil War. Alex Garland's thriller opened in April 2024 to mostly positive reviews, topping the box office and eventually grossing over $68 million domestically and over $122 million worldwide. This week,
Civil War sold 37% as many Blu-ray units as
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, with a perfect HD share of 100% and 27% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the charts, Arrow Video's
When Titans Ruled the Earth (2010-2012), a two-disc set which contains
Clash of the Titans (2010) and its sequel,
Wrath of the Titans (2012), came in at No 11 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while the 4K UHD edition came in at No. 3 on the UHD Sellers chart for the week. On the same chart, Shout Factory's
The Last Unicorn 4K came in at No. 4 and Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's
Can't Hardly Wait 4K came in at No. 8.
