For the week that ended on July 6th, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire remained on top of both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its second week. The sequel to 2021's
Ghostbusters: Afterlife opened to mixed reviews, but topped the box office on its opening weekend in March 2024, eventually grossing over $113 million domestically and over $201 million worldwide. This week,
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire had an HD share of 57% and 13% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Taking second place on both charts this week is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Ten years on from
Godzilla (2014), the fifth film in the Monsterverse franchise--itself a direct sequel to
Godzilla vs. Kong--opened in March 2024 to mixed reviews, but just as
Godzilla vs. Kong helped to revive the box office in 2021, three years later,
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire also became a financial success, grossing over $196 million domestically and over $567 million worldwide. This week,
Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire sold 40% as many Blu-ray units as
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, with an HD share of 46% and 12% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
And taking third place on both charts in its second week is Lionsgate Home Entertainment's
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. Director Guy Ritchie's latest action comedy was something of a hit with critics and audiences, but underperformed at the domestic box office, debuting in fourth place on its opening weekend in April 2024. Internationally, the film has only seen a limited theatrical release and grossed only about $27 million worldwide on a reported $60 million budget. This week,
The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare sold 35% as many Blu-ray units as
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, with an HD share of 60% and 22% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the charts, several films which were issued on 4K UHD this week made it into the top twenty Blu-rays, including Sony's
Taxi Driver, which came in at No. 6, Paramount Home Media Distribution's
Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, which came in at No. 8, and Unearthed Films'
The Guyver, Shout Factory's
UHF and the Criterion Collection's
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid, which took Nos. 12, 13 and 14, respectively. Four of the five films were also in the Top Ten UHD Sellers for the week, while
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid 4K came in just outside the top ten at No. 11.
Elsewhere on the UHD Sellers chart, Kino Lorber's
Blown Away 4K (1994) came in at No. 15.
