Blu-ray Sales: June 2-8: Dune: Part Two Remains on Top in Fourth Week

For the week that ended on June 8th, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Dune: Part Two once again held both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its fourth week. With 2021 predecessor Dune actually being Dune: Part One, the second part was greenlit as soon as that film proved to be a box office hit in October 2021. Both parts ended up overcoming challenges--Dune: Part One had to contend with a simultaneous release to streaming and theaters, while Dune: Part Two found itself delayed by the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes of 2023, ultimately moving from November 2023 to March 2024. However, like its predecessor, Dune: Part Two opened to critical acclaim and box office success, grossing over $282 million domestically and over $711 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing film of 2024 so far. This week, Dune: Part Two had an HD share of 65% and 25% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Re-taking second place on both charts in its seventh week is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's The Beekeeper (2024). The latest Jason Statham action vehicle opened in January 2024 to broadly positive reviews and a box office take of over $66 million domestically and over $152 million worldwide. This week, The Beekeeper sold 30% as many Blu-ray units as Dune: Part Two, with an HD share of 40% and 4% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Coming in third on the Blu-ray-only chart is Paramount Home media Distribution's Rango. The 2011 animated family film was released on 4K UHD this week, as a Limited Edition SteelBook. This week, Rango sold 27% as many Blu-ray units as Dune: Part Two, with an HD share of 99% and 99% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Elsewhere on the charts, BBC's Doctor Who: Peter Davison - Complete Season Two (AKA Doctor Who: The Collection - Season 20 in the UK) (1983) came in at No. 4 on the Blu-ray-only chart. On the UHD Sellers chart, the Criterion Collection's Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas 4K came in at No. 6, while Kino Lorber's Bad Lieutenant 4K came in at No. 10.
