Samsung Electronics has announced prices for their three new players expected out later this year. The
BD-P1400 (which will replace the current
BD-P1200) will be available in September for $549. Its bigger brother, the BD-P2400, with the Silicon Optix HQV processor, will be available in October for $649. The
BD-UP5000 Blu-ray/HD DVD player will be out sometime after these players for $1,049.
All three players feature HDMI v1.3 and support for the decoding of Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD. Additionally, all three will support 24fps playback. The BD-P2400 and BD-UP5000 feature the Silcon Optix HQV processor which does an excellent job upconverting DVD content (currently, the BD-P1200 has this processor, but its replacement, the BD-P1400, will not).
