Plexifilm has announced the Blu-ray release of '
Objectified', a documentary about our complex relationship with manufactured objects and, by extension, the people who design them. Initially no BD edition was envisaged, but after fans demanded it via numerous blog comments on the film's website, a high-definition edition has been added for September 29. No audio or video specifications are available.
'Objectified' is the second part of a three-film “design trilogy” by Gary Hustwit. The first was '
Helvetica'; details on the third film will be released soon.
Through
vérité footage and in-depth conversations, the film documents the creative processes of some of the world's most influential product designers, and looks at how the things they make impact our lives. What can we learn about who we are, and who we want to be, from the objects with which we surround ourselves?
Special features include:
- One hour of additional designer interviews
- Booklet with liner notes by director Gary Hustwit
Each Blu-ray pre-order comes with one of the Objectified tote bags by Build.
At the moment, the 'Objectified' BD can only be ordered on the movie's
official site.
