For once, special-packaging enthusiasts don't have to look overseas. Amazon is offering J.J. Abrams' 'Star Trek' in an exclusive limited-edition gift set containing a "screen-accurate" 8.5-inch replica of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, modeled directly from the digital-effects files used in the making of the movie. Note this figure isn't cheap plastic, but rather solid metal.
The set comes with a certificate of authenticity signed by Roger Guyett (Special effects supervisor, Industrial Light & Magic), and Andy Gore (President & CEO, Quantum Mechanix Inc.).
