The website of Sears-owned retailer
Kmart sports today a promotional
banner reading, "The rumors are reality – New Low Price & A New Exciting
Playstation 3." There is no further information at this time, but it definitely
seems that a new PS3 model is coming up, although it may or may not be
the fabled slim console.
If you follow the "Learn More" link now, it takes you to the already familiar
models and bundles. Hopefully it will be updated during the day.
Additionally,
kotaku is reporting that FYE is soon going
to advertise price reductions for the two existing models of PS3, with both
dropping $100.
We'll definitely know more later today when Sony Computer Entertainment
holds its gamescom press conference.
Update
Engadget just noticed that the link is
now live and takes to a
preorder page for a slim PS3, with a price of $299.99,
and a release date of August 24. It supposedly comes with a 120GB hard
disk drive, and one Dual Shock 3 controller.
