Shazam! Fury of the Gods topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut. The superhero sequel opened in March to mixed reviews and bombed at the box office, making less than $58 million domestically and less than $134 million worldwide, but clearly disc buyers were undeterred, perhaps seeking to complete their home video collections. This week,
Shazam! Fury of the Gods had an HD share of 63% and 32% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Dropping to second place in its second week is Walt Disney Home Entertainment's
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The 31st film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and third film in the
Ant-Man franchise follows the titular character as he and his family are transported to the Quantum Realm, where they encounter the exiled Kang the Conqueror. The film opened in February 2023 and is the first film in Marvel's Phase Five slate of films. It received mixed reviews, but lived up to expectations at the box office, with the best opening weekend in the
Ant-Man series en route to a domestic total of over $214 million and over $476 million globally so far. This week,
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania sold 77% as many Blu-ray units as
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, with an HD share of 63% and 20% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
And debuting in third place on the Blu-ray-only chart is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and MGM's
Creed III. The third film in the
Creed series--and ninth film in the overall
Rocky franchise--was the first not to feature Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa and was also the directorial debut of star Michael B. Jordan. In contrast to this week's chart-topper
Shazam! Fury of the Gods,
Creed III received positive reviews and was a box office success, raking in over $156 million domestically and over $274 million globally. This week,
Creed III sold 71% as many Blu-ray units as
Shazam! Fury of the Gods, with an HD share of 59% and 20% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsehwere on the charts, Shout Factory's
Brotherhood of the Wolf, which received a 4K UHD release this week, came in at No. 5 on the Blu-ray-only chart.
