The Harry Potter films could be rereleased on extended Blu-ray editions in the near future. After a recent MPAA bulletin of rated films listed an extended version of 'Harry Potter of the Sorcerer's Stone', film site Rope of Silicon contacted a Warner Brothers representative, who confirmed that "all Harry Potter films are being planned to get special upcoming releases", although no announcement has been made yet.
Indeed, ultimate editions of '
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone' and '
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets' are already up for preorder on Amazon, albeit without a release date.
As to the actual length of the extended versions,
Slashfilm notes that 'Sorcerer's Stone' director Chris Columbus added 7 minutes of deleted scenes back into the movie for its May 2004 ABC broadcast premiere.
