Blu-ray Sales: March 26-April 1: Plane Clips Batman's Wings

For the week that ended on April 1st, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's Plane topped the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its debut. The latest Gerard Butler action vehicle featured the star as a pilot who must team up with a prisoner after crash landing in hostile territory. It opened in January to mixed reviews, but has grossed over $32 million domestically and over $52 million globally so far. This week, Plane had an HD share of 61%, with 16% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Debuting in second place on the Blu-ray-only chart is the latest DC Animated Movie, Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham. The direct-to-video film is based on a three-issue miniseries from DC's Elseworlds imprint and is set in the 1920s, where Bruce Wayne awakens an ancient evil. This week, Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham sold 64% as many Blu-ray units as Plane, with a perfect HD share of 100% and 15% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Dropping to third place on the Blu-ray-only chart in its second week is Crunchyroll's Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. The twenty-first feature film in the venerable Dragon Ball franchise opened in Japan in June 2022 and topped the box office in its opening weekend. In the US, the film opened two months later and accomplished the same feat, opening to strong reviews and over $21 million on it's way to over $38 million in the United Sates. The film has grossed over $86 million worldwide. This week, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero sold 59% as many Blu-ray units as Plane, with a perfect HD share of 100%.

Elsewhere on the charts, Warner's Blu-ray release of Rick and Morty: Season 6 debuted at No. 6 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while MPI Home Video's release of All Quiet on the Western Front (2022) came in at No. 8. Outside the top ten, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Missing (2023) debuted at No. 13, Crunchyroll's Attack on Titan: The Final Season - Part 2 came in at No. 17, BBC's release of Doctor Who: William Hartnell - Complete Season Two came in at No. 18 and Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's release of Chucky: Season Two came in at No. 19.
