Dragon Ball franchise opened in Japan in June 2022 and topped the box office in its opening weekend. In the US, the film opened two months later and accomplished the same feat, opening to strong reviews and over $21 million on it's way to over $38 million in the United Sates. The film has grossed over $86 million worldwide. This week,
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero had a perfect HD share of 100%.
Debuting in second place on both charts is Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's
A Man Called Otto. The US remake of the Swedish novel and film
A Man Called Ove has earned over $64 million domestically and over $108 million worldwide. This week,
A Man Called Otto sold 31% as many Blu-ray units as
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, with an HD share of 48%.
Dropping to third place in its third week is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. The sequel to 2011's
Puss in Boots concerns the feline hero's quest for to find magic star which can restore the eight of his nine lives he has used up. Over a decade on from the first film, and featuring a notably different computer-generated animation style to the other films in the
Shrek franchise,
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish opened in December 2022 to positive reviews. Despite finishing second on its opening weekend, behind the gargantuan
Avatar: The Way of Water,
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish has legged it to over $180 million domestically and over $463 million globally. The film was also nominated for the Oscar for Best Animated Feature Film at the Academy Awards. This week,
Puss in Boots: The Last Wish sold 24% as many Blu-ray units as
Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, with an HD share of 48% and 19% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the charts, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's
The Whale debuted at No. 4 on both charts, with an HD share of 44%, while their release of
The Walking Dead: The Complete Eleventh Season came in at No. 6 on the Blu-ray-only chart. Outside the top ten, Warner and MGM's
Rocky III, the latest in a line of Best Buy Exclusive 4K UHD SteelBooks for the series, came in at No. 11 and also topped the UHD Market Share chart for the week, with over 99% of units sold from the 4K UHD format. Universal's
The Prince of Egypt, which debuted on 4K UHD this week, came in at No. 13. Shout Factory's
Streets of Fire, which received a 4K UHD upgrade this week, came in at No. 15, while Paramount Home Media Distribution's
The Core, which got its own 4K UHD upgrade this week, came in at No. 17.
