The German Federal Association for Audiovisual Media has released the figures for the home video market in the first half of 2009. The revenue on Blu-ray software sales have more than tripled over the same period of 2008, with 41 million euros, over 13 million euros last year. Unit sales have also quadrupled, with 2.0 million discs sold, compared to half a million units sold in the first half of 2008.
The packaged-media business as a whole showed better health than in other countries. Overall sales were 572 million euros, or 4% more than the year before. The top-selling title both on DVD and BD was '
Quantum of Solace'.
The German section of the BDA has also revealed that hardware sales have quadrupled year-on-year.
