For the week of February 13th, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment have a Blu-ray and 4K UHD release for The Fabelmans, starring Michelle Williams, Paul Dano, Seth Rogen, Gabriel LaBelle and Mateo Zoryan.

Studio description: Directed by Steven Spielberg, The Fabelmans is written by Spielberg and Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tony Kushner (Angels in America, Caroline, or Change), who has earned Oscar® nominations for his screenplays for Spielberg's Lincoln and Munich. The film is produced by three-time Oscar® nominee Kristie Macosko Krieger p.g.a. (West Side Story, The Post), Steven Spielberg p.g.a. and Tony Kushner p.g.a. The film is executive produced by Carla Raij (Maestro, co-producer West Side Story) and Josh McLaglen (Free Guy, Logan).

The film stars Gabriel LaBelle (The Predator, American Gigolo series) as 16-year-old aspiring filmmaker Sammy Fabelman; four-time Academy Award® nominee Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea, My Week with Marilyn) as his artistic mother, Mitzi; Paul Dano (The Batman, There Will Be Blood) as his successful, scientific father, Burt; Seth Rogen (Steve Jobs, An American Pickle) as Bennie Loewy, Burt's best friend and honorary "uncle" to the Fabelman children, and Academy Award® nominee Judd Hirsch (Uncut Gems, Ordinary People) as Mitzi's Uncle Boris.

The ensemble cast includes Oscar® nominee Jeannie Berlin (The Heartbreak Kid, Inherent Vice) as Sammy's paternal grandmother, Hadassah Fabelman; Julia Butters (Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood, 13 Hours) as Sammy's sister Reggie; Robin Bartlett (Moonstruck, Lean on Me) as Sammy's maternal grandmother Tina Schildkraut and Keeley Karsten (Hunters, Evil Lives Here) as Sammy's sister Natalie.

The music is by five-time Academy Award® winner John Williams (Schindler's List, Jaws), the costume designer is two-time Oscar® winner Mark Bridges (The Artist, Phantom Thread) and the production designer is two-time Oscar® winner Rick Carter (Lincoln, Avatar). The Fabelmans is edited by three-time Academy Award® winner Michael Kahn ACE (Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List) and Sarah Broshar (West Side Story, The Post). The film's director of photography is two-time Academy Award® winner Janusz Kaminski (Schindler's List, Saving Private Ryan).

Universal's releases of The Fabelmans contain a Dolby TrueHD 7.1 audio track, while the 4K UHD disc additionally includes Dolby Vision HDR. Extras include over 45 minutes of featurettes. Reviewer Martin Liebman gives high marks to both releases, saying that the 4K UHD disc "offers a satisfying upgrade over the standard 1080p Blu-ray. The picture sees gains in overall filmic clarity and texture; the image is appreciably sharper, offering more refined, more pinpoint, more expressive facial details and clothing elements." New this week from Walt Disney Home Entertainment is a Blu-ray and 4K UHD release for Don Hall's Strange World, featuring the voices of Jake Gyllenhaal, Alan Tudyk, Gabrielle Union, Lucy Liu and Dennis Quaid.

Studio description: Strange World introduces a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an uncharted, treacherous land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob called Splat; Legend, the family dog; and a slew of ravenous creatures. The voice cast includes Academy Award®*- and Tony Award®-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade, a family man who finds himself out of his element on an unpredictable mission; Emmy®- and two-time Golden Globe®-nominee Dennis Quaid as Searcher's larger-than-life explorer father, Jaeger; comedian, actor, writer, filmmaker and musician Jaboukie Young-White as Searcher's 16-year-old, adventure-seeking son, Ethan; actress, producer, bestselling author and TIME100 cover honoree Gabrielle Union as Meridian Clade, an accomplished pilot and Searcher's partner in all things; and critically acclaimed actress, producer, director and fine artist Lucy Liu as Callisto Mal, Avalonia's fearless leader who spearheads the exploration into the strange world. Helmed by director Don Hall (Oscar®-winning** Big Hero 6, Raya and the Last Dragon) and co-director/writer Qui Nguyen (co-writer Raya and the Last Dragon), with Roy Conli (Oscar®-winning** Big Hero 6, Tangled) producing, Strange World is in theaters now.

Disney's 4K UHD release of Strange World contains HDR and the film's Dolby Atmos audio. Extras on the bundled Blu-ray include deleted scenes, outtakes and over 45 minutes of featurettes. Reviewer Martin Liebman gives both releases a perfect 5/5 for video quality, saying that the 4K UHD disc "offers enhanced color depth over the...Blu-ray. The palette is more luxurious, with more stability in accuracy and overall greater vividness...the HDR color spectrum alone makes this the finest home presentation for the film that is currently available". Note: The 4K UHD release of Strange World in standard packaging is currently exclusive to the Disney Movie Club website. However, a Best Buy Exclusive 4K UHD SteelBook will also be available.

New this week from MUBI is the label's debut Blu-ray release in the USA, Park Chan-wook's Decision to Leave (헤어질 결심), starring Tang Wei, Park Hae-il, Kyung-pyo Go, Teo Yoo, Jung-hyun Lee and Yong-woo Park.

Official description: Winner of Best Director Award at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, Park Chan-wook (Oldboy, The Handmaiden) returns with a seductive romantic thriller that takes his renowned stylistic flair to dizzying new heights.

From a mountain peak in South Korea, a man plummets to his death. Did he jump, or was he pushed? When detective Hae-joon (Park Hae-il, The Host) arrives on the scene, he begins to suspect the dead man's wife Seo-rae (Tang Wei, Caution) may know more than she initially lets on. MUBI's Blu-ray of Decision to Leave contains DTS-HD MA 5.1 and 2.0 audio tracks in the original Korean, with optional English or English SDH subtitles and an English described audio track. Extras include an introduction with Tang Wei and Park Hae-il, an interview with Park Chan-wook, and the featurettes Moments of Decision to Leave, Behind the scenes in Cannes and Park Chan-wook's Movie Going Memories.

New this week on Blu-ray from Vertical Entertainment is Randall Emmett's Savage Salvation, starring Jack Huston, Robert De Niro, John Malkovich, Dale Dickey and Willa Fitzgerald.

Official description: Sheriff Church (De Niro) and Detective Zeppelin strive to keep the peace in their rough town, where residents' only two interests are the church or oxycodone. Newly engaged Shelby John (Huston) and Ruby Red (Fitzgerald) want a fresh start. They decide to have a family together and get clean, with the support of Peter, Ruby's brother-in-law (Malkovich). However Shelby discovers his beloved Ruby dead on their porch before she could fulfill her final wish: to be baptized in the river and washed away from her past sins. Filled with fiery rage, Shelby embarks on a vengeful killing spree to right all the wrong done to Ruby by every link in the drug dealing chain. Armed with nothing but adrenaline and a nail gun, Shelby picks off dealers and junkies one by one until he gets to the top. Sheriff Church and Detective Zeppelin must race against the clock to put an end to Shelby's vigilante justice before his fight with the crime lord Coyote (Quavo) turns the entire town into a bloodbath.

New on Blu-ray this week from Well Go USA comes Kim Hong-sun's Project Wolf Hunting (늑대사냥), starring Seo In-guk, Jang Dong-yoon, Sung Dong-il, and Jung So-min.

Label description: During transport from the Philippines to South Korea, a group of dangerous criminals unites to stage a coordinated escape attempt. As the jailbreak escalates into a bloody, all-out riot, the fugitives and their allies from the outside exact a brutal terror campaign against the special agents onboard the ship.

The action-packed thriller from director Kim Hong-Sun (Money Heist: Korea - Joint Economic Area) stars Seo In-guk (The Master's Sun, Hello Monster), Jang Dong-yoon (Search, Mr. Sunshine), Choi Guy-hwa (Train to Busan, The Wailing), Sung Dong-il (The Cursed, The Great Battle), Park Ho-san (The Call, Prison Playbook) and Jung So-min (Alchemy of Souls).

New this week from Warner Bros. Home Entertainment is a Blu-ray for Calmatic's House Party (2022), starring Jacob Latimore, Tosin Colem Allen Maldonado and Bottara Angele.

Studio description: From New Line Cinema comes your VIP ticket into the hottest event of the year: "House Party," the remix to the fan-favorite '90s classic.

Aspiring club promoters and best buds Damon (Tosin Cole) and Kevin (Jacob Latimore) are barely keeping things together. Out of money, down on their luck and about to lose the roofs over their heads—and freshly fired from their low-lift jobs as house cleaners—the pair needs a huge windfall to make their problems go away.

In a 'what the hell?' move, they decide to host the party of the year at an exclusive mansion, the site of their last cleaning job, which just happens to belong to none other than LeBron James. No permission? No problem. What could go wrong?

How about a time traveling DJ, undependable security, a runaway guest list, one borrowed Lamborghini, angry rival promoters, a stolen championship ring, escalating property damage, an angry koala..?

But also, one outrageous ride stacked with double-take cameos and timeless throwback tracks, R-rated comedy and two friends worth cheering for... you have to see to believe.

After all, a night like this doesn't come around more than once.

New this week from RLJE Films is a Blu-ray for Dario Argento's Dark Glasses (Occhiali neri), starring Ilenia Pastorelli, Asia Argento and Andrea Gherpelli.

Official description: Rome. A serial killer who preys on prostitutes sets his sights on Diana. As he pursues her, he causes a car crash in which she is blinded and 10-year-old Chin's entire family dies. Despite her blindness, Diane resolves to take the boy in. But the killer is still on the loose...

RLJE Films' Blu-ray of Dark Glasses contains an Italian DTS-HD MA 5.1 track with optional English SDH subtitles. The lone extra on the disc is a short behind-the-scenes featurette. For a full disc breakdown, read Randy Miller's Blu-ray review.

New this week from Paramount Home Media Distribution is a Blu-ray for American Gigolo: Season 1 (2022), starring Jon Bernthal, Gretchen Mol, Rosie O'Donnell, Lizzie Brocheré and Leland Orser.

Official description: American Gigolo, a present-day reimagining of the iconic film, follows Julian Kaye (Jon Bernthal) after his release from prison as he navigates relationships with his former lover (Gretchen Mol), his troubled mother, and the people who betrayed him. While Julian struggles to reconcile his past with the man he is today, Detective Sunday (Rosie O'Donnell) seeks the truth about the murder that sent Julian to prison all those years ago, unearthing a much larger conspiracy along the way.

Also coming from Paramount is another entry in the Paramount Presents lineup: a Blu-ray for Leslie Harris' Just Another Girl on the I.R.T. (1992), starring Ariyan A. Johnson, Kevin Thigpen, Ebony Jerido, Chequita Jackson and Jerard Washington. Newly remastered in 4K, Paramount brings Just Another Girl on the I.R.T. to Blu-ray with a Dolby TrueHD Mono audio track. Extras include a new director's commentary and a new featurette: Director Leslie Harris on Just Another Girl on the I.R.T.. As usual with the Paramount Presents series, collectible packaging includes a slipcover which opens to reveal original poster artwork.

Staying with catalog titles, Kino Lorber have a number of Blu-ray titles out this week, starting with Stuart Walker's White Woman (1933), starring Carole Lombard, Charles Laughton, Charles Bickford, Kent Taylor and Percy Kilbride. Sourced from a new 2K master, Kino's Blu-ray of White Woman contains a new audio commentary by filmmaker Allan Arkush and film historian / filmmaker Daniel Kremer,as well as trailers.

Then from Kino comes several films by François Truffaut, starting with The Bride Wore Black (La mariée était en noir) (1968), starring Jeanne Moreau, Michel Bouquet and Jean-Claude Brialy. Kino's Blu-ray contains the film in the original French with optional English subtitles, as well as audio commentary by film historians Julie Kirgo, Steven C. Smith and Nick Redman and the film's theatrical trailer.

Also from Kino is Truffaut's Mississippi Mermaid (La Sirène du Mississipi) (1969), starring Catherine Deneuve, Jean-Paul Belmondo, Nelly Borgeaud, Martine Ferrière, Marcel Berbert and Yves Drouhet. Once again, Kino's Blu-ray contains the film in the original French with optional English subtitles, as well as audio commentary by film historians Julie Kirgo and Nick Redman, as well as the film's theatrical trailer.

Then from Kino comes the box set Francois Truffaut Collection (1970-1978), a two-disc set containing Truffaut's The Wild Child (L'Enfant sauvage) (1970), Small Change (L'Argent de poche) (1976), The Man Who Loved Women (L'Homme qui aimait les femmes) (1977) and The Green Room (La Chambre verte) (1978). All four films are presented in the original French with optional English subtitles, and the release also contains theatrical trailers for all four films.

Finally for Kino and Truffaut is The Story of Adele H. (L'Histoire d'Adèle H.) (1975), starring Isabelle Adjani, Bruce Robinson, Sylvia Marriott, Joseph Blatchley and Ivry Gitlis. Yet again, Kino's Blu-ray contains the film in the original French with optional English subtitles, as well as audio commentary by film historians Julie Kirgo and Nick Redman, as well as the film's theatrical trailer.

Making its domestic Blu-ray debut from the Criterion Collection this week is Franco Zeffirelli's Romeo and Juliet (1968), starring Olivia Hussey, Leonard Whiting, Milo O'Shea, Michael York, John McEnery, Pat Heywood, Natasha Parry and Robert Stephens. Already released internationally by Paramount Pictures back in 2013, Criterion brings the title to the US (and Canada) for the first time, sourced from a 4K master and with original LPCM Mono audio. Extras include an excerpt from the documentary Franco Zeffirelli: Directing from Life (2018), interviews with Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting from both 1967 and 2016, a trailer, and a booklet with an essay by scholar Ramona Wray. Reviewer Svet Atanasov gives the disc top 5/5 scores for picture and sound, saying in part: "I think that the new 4K makeover that was prepared for this classic film is magnificent". Finally this week, Shout Factory have two catalog titles available. First up is Tsui Hark's Zu: Warriors From the Magic Mountain (蜀山: 新蜀山劍俠) (1983), starring Adam Cheng, Brigitte Lin, Damian Lau, Sammo Kam-Bo Hung and Biao Yuen. Sourced from a new 2K master, Shout's Blu-ray presents the film in Mandarin (with a new English subtitle translation), Cantonese, or English DTS-HD MA Mono or Stereo tracks, with new extras, including audio commentary with Hong Kong filmmaker and academic Gilbert Po and critic Sean Tierney, as well as new interviews with visual effects consultant Peter Kuran, academic Victor Fan and academic Lin Feng. Legacy extras include select-scene audio commentary by Asian cinema expert Tony Rayns, an alternate Export Cut of the film, actor interviews and more.

Then from Shout comes Yuen Woo-Ping's Iron Monkey (少年黃飛鴻之鐵馬騮) (1993), starring Donnie Yen, Rongguang Yu, Jean Wang, Sze-Man Tsang, Shun-Yee Yuen and James Wong. Sourced from a new 2K master, Shout's Blu-ray presents the film in Mandarin (with a new English subtitle translation), Cantonese, or English DTS-HD MA Stereo, Mono or 5.1 tracks, with new extras, including audio commentary with Hong Kong filmmaker and academic Gilbert Po and critic Sean Tierney, as well as new interviews with composer James L. Venable, writer Richard Epcar and film critic Ricky Baker. Legacy extras include cast and crew interviews, featurettes and more.

Finally this week, Shout has a Blu-ray for Lynn Roth's Shepherd: The Story of a Hero Dog (2019), starring August Maturo, Ken Duken, Ayelet Zurer, Lois Robbins, Zsolt Páll and Levente Molnár.

Description: The timeless, unbreakable bond between a boy and his faithful dog is put to the ultimate test in 1930s Germany, in the heartwarming family drama Shepherd: The Story Of A Hero Dog. When the Nuremberg Laws are passed forbidding Jews to own pets, Kaleb, a German Shepherd, is separated from his Jewish family and his beloved 10-year-old master Joshua (August Maturo). Kaleb is alone and on the streets – until he is captured and eventually adopted by an SS dog trainer (Ken Duken) at a Nazi work camp where Kaleb will now be trained to help round up Jews.
