For the week that ended on January 21st, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Black Adam topped both the the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts in its third week. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson had been tapped to play the DC Comics antihero as long ago as 2007 and confirmed his involvement in 2014, back when Black Adam was supposed to be part of Shazam!. In 2017, the character was split off into his own film with Johnson as the star, but filming was delayed, first by Johnson's busy schedule, and then by the coronavirus pandemic, such that Black Adam took until April 2021 to begin filming. Upon release in October 2022, the film grossed over $67 million on its opening weekend, the highest opening of Johnson's career. However, mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike led to the film ultimately grossing just over $168 million domestically and over $392 million globally. This week, Black Adam had an HD share of 52% and 13% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Taking second place on both charts in its eleventh week is Paramount Home Media Distribution's Top Gun: Maverick. Originally announced in 2010, the sequel to the 1986 action blockbuster Top Gun saw several delays, including the death of director Tony Scott in 2012. When filming finally commenced in 2018, a projected release in June 2019 was delayed a year in order to complete the film's action sequences. That process would be further drawn out by the arrival of the coronavirus pandemic, which would see the film's release date moved several more times, before it finally opened in May 2022. After a 36-year wait, the result was an enormous success. Top Gun: Maverick opened to rave reviews and over $160 million over the Memorial Day holiday weekend, going on to make over $718 million domestically and even more internationally at over $770 million and counting, for a running total of over $1.4 billion worldwide. In June, the film passed $800 million to become the highest-grossing film in Tom Cruise's career, while later that month, it became only the second film since 2019 to cross the $1 billion mark, following Sony's Spider-Man: No Way Home. Top Gun: Maverick was also the highest-grossing film of 2022 until it was dethroned in January 2023 by Avatar: The Way of Water. This week, Top Gun: Maverick sold 74% as many Blu-ray units as Black Adam, with an HD share of 56% and 15% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Debuting in third place on the Blu-ray-only chart is Walt Disney Home Entertainment and and Searchlight Pictures' The Menu (2022). The black comedy about a private dinner at a celebrity chef's restaurant opened in November 2022 to positive reviews. taking second place behind Black Panther: Wakanda Forever on its opening weekend, and eventually grossing over $38 million domestically and over $78 million worldwide. Notably, Disney even held a Blu-ray Disc Release Party for the film, with cast members in attendance at a pop-up Blockbuster Video in Los Angeles, which was filled with copies of the Blu-ray and served food inspired by the film. This week, The Menu sold 40% as many Blu-ray units as Black Adam, with an HD share of 60%.
