Kino Lorber have revealed that they are preparing a Blu-ray release of Piero Pierotti's
Marco Polo (1962), starring Rory Calhoun, Yôko Tani, and Camillo Pilotto. The release is expected to arrive on the market early next year.
Description: En route to China in the 13th century, Marco Polo, a Venetian, saves the life of Ciu-Lin, a young Chinese who then becomes his devoted servant. Marco later rescues Princess Amuroy, daughter of the Great Khan, from bandits. Marco eventually learns that the bandits are followers of the Khan's nephew Cuday, who is in opposition to the tyrannical rule of the governing minister, Mongka. Once in Peking, Marco lands in jail but is freed by the Khan. He then meets the princess again and carries on a carefree flirtation with her. This so enrages the evil Mongka, who plans to marry Amuroy and take over the kingdom, that he arranges to have Marco killed, but Marco escapes and joins forces with Cuday. Upon meeting an old hermit who has invented gunpowder, Marco builds a special cannon which he and the rebels take to the walls of the city. Mongka and his troops are destroyed, and Peking is saved. Marco then reluctantly declines the princess' offer of marriage and continues on his journey.
