For the week that ended on July 9th, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's
Everything Everywhere All At Once topped the Blu-ray-only chart in its debut. The comedy-drama starring Michelle Yeoh opened in March 2022 and received a wide release in April, where it went on to receive high critical praise and become distributor A24's highest-grossing film thus far, with over $67 million domestically and over $93 million worldwide. This week,
Everything Everywhere All At Once had an excellent HD share of 88% and 44% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Dropping to second place on the Blu-ray-only chart is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore. The third film in the
Fantastic Beasts film series and eleventh in the Wizarding World franchise opened in April 2022 to mixed reviews. Although it topped the box office in its opening weekend with some $42 million and an eventual haul of over $95 million domestically and $405 million globally, those totals are the lowest for any film in the Wizarding World franchise, with the caveat that the film was delayed several times and opened during the coronavirus pandemic. This week,
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore sold 72% as many Blu-ray units as
Everything Everywhere All At Once, with an HD share of 59% and 12% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Debuting in third place on both charts this week is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's
Downton Abbey: A New Era. The second feature film to spawn from the hit British television Series,
Downton Abbey: A New Era opened in the UK in April 2022 and in the US in May 2022, pushed from a planned December 2021 release date. While the sequel failed to make as much as its pre-pandemic predecessor, it has notched up almost $90 million so far, including almost $18 million from the UK alone, and reviews have been generally positive. This week,
Downton Abbey: A New Era sold 50% as many Blu-ray units as
Everything Everywhere All At Once, with an HD share of 48% and 4% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Elsewhere on the charts, Universal's
Memory (2022) debuted at No. 6 on the Blu-ray-only chart, while Warner Bros.' 4K UHD upgrade for
Edge of Tomorrow pushed that film back into the top ten Blu-rays at No. 7 and easily topped the UHD Market Share chart for the week, with 91% of units sold from the 4K UHD format. Meanwhile, two titles from the Criterion Collection have landed in the top 20 at a time when retailer Barnes and Noble is having their semi-annual 50% off sale on Criterion titles:
Double Indemnity (1944), which also cracked the top twenty on its
release week back in May, came in at No. 14, while
Okja, which debuted on home video with Criterion Blu-ray and 4K UHD editions this week, came in right behind at No. 15. Both Criterion titles also rounded out the top three spots on the UHD Market Share chart, with 75% and 72%, respectively.
