StudioCanal will add to its Blu-ray catalog Basil Dearden's Frieda (1947), starring David Farrar, Glynis Johns, Flora Robson, Mai Zetterling, and Barbara Everest. The release is scheduled to arrive on the market on July 4.
Description: Robert Dawson marries Frieda, the German girl responsible for his escape from a prisoner-of-war camp in 1945 and brings her back to England as his wife. She loves him, but he is not in love with her. He has married her out of gratitude. But gradually, under the influence of peace, Frieda becomes accepted, particularly by Robert, who is now falling in love with her. But Frieda's happiness is shattered by the arrival of her brother, whose true Nazi character is revealed to Robert, forcing him to turn away from all things German, including his beloved wife.
