Our favorite English clay-made inventor/cheese connoisseur and his very resourceful pet dog are stop-motioning their way onto BD. Hit Entertainment, which specializes in TV products for children, is entering the Blu-ray arena with the release of '
Wallace & Gromit: The Complete Collection' on September 22.
The disc will include all four Wallace and Gromit shorts: "A Grand Day Out", "The Wrong Trousers", "A Close Shave" and "A Matter of Loaf and Death". There is no information on technical specifications or special features at this time.
The original aspect ratio of the first three shorts is 1.33:1, whereas "A Matter of Loaf and Death" is 1.78:1. Hopefully Hit Entertainment will respect the respective original aspect ratios, unlike what they did with the Wallace and Gromit spinoff 'Shaun the Sheep', which is cropped to 1.33:1 in the US DVDs.
It might be noted that this is not really a complete collection, as it lacks the only feature film starring these two characters: 'Wallace and Gromit in: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit'. However, the rights for that movie belong to Dreamworks Animation. Similarly, no mention is made of the "Cracking Contraptions" webshorts.
