The British Film Institute has announced the Blu-ray release of several films by Scottish director Bill Douglas for July 27: the 'Bill Douglas Trilogy' (including
My Childhood, My Ain Folk and
My Way Home) and 'Comrades'. The Blu-ray for 'Bill Douglas Trilogy' contains the three films on one region-free BD50, with the extras on a separate DVD. 'Comrades' will be a two-disc set.
Special features on 'Bill Douglas Trilogy' include:
- Bill Douglas: Intent on Getting the Image (2006, 63 mins), a new documentary about Bill Douglas's life and work
- Come Dancing (1970, 15 mins), Douglas's remarkable, rarely-seen student short
- Rare archive interview with Bill Douglas (4 mins)
- Illustrated booklet containing newly commissioned essays, notes and credits
Special features on 'Comrades' include:
- Lanterna Magicka – Bill Douglas & the Secret History of Cinema (2009, 60 mins), an insightful new documentary on Douglas's life and work
