Sandpiper Pictures plans to release on Blu-ray
American Pimp (1999) and
It's My Party (1996). The two releases are scheduled to arrive on the market this March.
American Pimp
Synopsis: The Hughes brothers helm this documentary about the state of prostitution in urban sectors of the U.S., producing an ostentatious, profanity-laden celebration of the ghetto subculture of "pimping." This film combines images of fictional pimps from film and television with candid interviews with infamous real-life street hustlers -- from San Francisco's bluesman-turned-pimp, Clarence "Fillmore Slim" Sims, to Chicago's pimp-turned-minister, Don "Magic" Juan.
STREET DATE: MARCH 15.
It's My Party
Synopsis: Nick (Eric Roberts), a gay, HIV-positive architect, begins to display severe symptoms of AIDS and makes preparations to kill himself before he is unable to function normally. He arranges a party to reconnect and say goodbye to his closest friends and his confused parents. But when his ex-partner, Brandon (Gregory Harrison), a television director who left Nick when he was diagnosed with HIV, shows up, what was supposed to be a celebratory event becomes much more difficult for everyone.
