Citing recent data from Adams Media Research, the Blu-ray Disc Association is disputing the results of a recent Harris Poll which indicated that more consumers own HD DVD players (11%) than Blu-ray Disc Players (7%). Sales data provided by the research company shows the number closer to an 8% share for Blu-ray compared to less than 1% for HD DVD.
Tom Adams, president of Adams Media Research, commented, "Some people believe a DVD player on an HDTV is high-def. There's just so much confusion out there. Everybody makes mistakes, but we have models that show [the Harris Poll] numbers just can't be true."
A representative for Harris was not available for comment.
