Samsung has announced that their dual format player, the BD-UP5000, is now set to be released in October or November for the European Market. The player will come with an Ethernet connection, and play both BD-J and HDi interactive content. It will also output 1080p at either 60fps or 24fps. No price has been set, but Samsung said it will cost approximately 400 euros (~$540) more than a standard Blu-ray player.
No additional specs have been announced at this time, but expect more to come out during IFA in August. If accepted by the DVD Forum, this will be the first non-Toshiba HD DVD player on the market. The LG combo player is not officially an HD DVD player as it does not support HDi.
