For the week that ended on September 18th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Black Widow topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts. he 24th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Black Widow was to be Johansson's first solo adventure after having portrayed the title character in several MCU films dating back to Iron Man 2 in 2010. Sadly, the coronavirus pandemic had a major impact on the film, which was shot in 2019 and originally to be released on May 1, 2020. After the pandemic hit the US in March 2020, Black Widow would be shuffled around the release calendar several times, eventually opening in most countries on July 7, 2021, fourteen months later than planned. The film also ended up with a day-and-date release on Disney's streaming service, albeit with the studio's controversial "Premiere Access" fee of $30. Regardless, Black Widow opened to some $80 million domestically in its first weekend, setting a pandemic box office record. Thus far, the film has earned a total of over $372 million at the global box office. This week, Black Widow had an HD share of 71% and 27% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Dropping to second place on both charts in its second week is Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's Zack Snyder's Justice League topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts by a huge margin, selling five times as many copies as the second place title. The four-hour epic is a director's cut of the 2017 film Justice League, a film which was completed by an uncredited Joss Whedon when Snyder had to leave the production. Following mixed reviews and poor box office compared to its competitors, fans began petitioning Warner to "release the Snyder Cut" of the film. While it was initially considered to be a pipe dream, Warner announced in February 2020 that the "Snyder Cut" was indeed moving forward and set to debut in 2021 on their HBO Max streaming service, with some $70 million more being spent on visual effects and re-shoots that took place in October 2020. The film premiered on March 18, 2021 and while there's no box office to speak of so far, critical reaction has been more positive than the 2017 version. This week, Zack Snyder's Justice League sold 23% as many Blu-ray units as Black Widow, with an HD share of 68% and 31% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Debuting in third place on both charts is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's The Boss Baby: Family Business. The sequel to 2017's The Boss Baby was originally set for March before landing on a July release date, which has seen the film pull in over $57 million domestically and over $107 million globally so far. This week, The Boss Baby: Family Business sold 15% as many Blu-ray units as Black Widow, with an HD share of 50% and 4% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.

Elsewhere on the charts, it must be getting close to Halloween again, because our old friend from Walt Disney Home Entertainment, Hocus Pocus has taken the No. 4 spot on the Blu-ray chart. But congratulations are due to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment, whose new 4K UHD release for The Shawshank Redemption saw the film easily top the UHD sales chart, with 98% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
