Australian label Umbrella Entertainment has informed us that it is launching a brand new line called Amazing True Tales. Its first release is a double-feature with J. Lee Thompson's I Aim at the Stars (1960) and André De Toth's Man on a String (1960), which will be available for purchase on September 1.
I Aim at the Stars
Synopsis: I Aim At The Stars examines the controversial life of Dr. Wernher von Braun (Curd Jurgens), one of the most brilliant and enigmatic figures of the space age. During World War Il, von Braun developed the deadly V-2 rocket, a key weapon for the Germans in their attacks on London. But after the war, he was recruited by the United States to help them develop their Cold War satellite program. Accusations of Nazi sympathies and angry attacks by those who suffered from his rockets dog von Braun, who repeatedly maintains that he was forced to work for the Third Reich or suffer the consequences.
Man on a String
During the height of the Cold War, espionage between the United States and the Soviet Union runs rampant. In the thick of it all, Russian-born US citizen Boris Mitrov (Ernest Borgnine) turns against his adopted country to spy for the reds. However, his cell is quickly compromised, and the CIA takes him into custody. But in a world where an inside man is more valuable than a prisoner, Mitrov takes the devil's bargain and becomes a double agent. He soon discovers that life is close to impossible caught between two duelling superpowers.
