For the week that ended on April 24th, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment's
Wonder Woman 1984 topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts for the fourth week in a row. The sequel to 2017's smash hit
Wonder Woman had been intended to be one of the biggest blockbusters of 2020, but the coronavirus pandemic changed those plans. After moving the film's theatrical release date multiple times, Warner eventually decided to release the film on Christmas Day 2020, with a simultaneous release on their HBO Max streaming platform. Despite everything, the film earned over $45 million at the domestic box office. This week,
Wonder Woman 1984 once again had an HD share of 50%, with 10% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Returning to second place on both charts is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's
News of the World. Paul Greengrass' Western stars Tom Hanks as a Civil War veteran who is enlisted to deliver a girl back to her family after she had been captured by the Kiowa tribe many years ago. The film opened on Christmas Day in the US only and has grossed over $12 million at the box office. This week,
News of the World sold 27% (26.76%) as many units as
Wonder Woman 1984, with an HD share of 38% and 6% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
Remaining in third place on both charts this week is Walt Disney Home Entertainment's
Soul. The latest film from Pixar Animation Studios,
Soul had its domestic theatrical release cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, but it still managed to make over $118 million in select international territories. The film won also won two Golden Globes and has three Oscar nominations. This week,
Soul also sold 27% (26.66%) as many units as
Wonder Woman 1984, with an HD share of 44% and 9% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
