British label Network Releasing will add four new titles to its Blu-ray catalog. They are: Behind The Mask (1958), The Playboy Of The Western World (1962), The Devil-Ship Pirates (1964), and The Strange World of Gurney Slade (1960).

Behind The Mask

Synopsis: Michael Redgrave gives a striking performance as a distinguished surgeon fighting against the depersonalisation of progress in this engrossing medical drama from director Brian Desmond Hurst. Also featuring Niall MacGinnis, Tony Britton, Ian Bannen and Vanessa Redgrave in her film debut, Behind the Mask is featured here as a brand-new High Definition transfer from original film elements in its original theatrical aspect ratio.

Backroom rivalry at the Graftondale Royal Hospital surgical unit is unspoken but self-evident. Sir Arthur Gray, a staunch traditionalist, is determined to keep things going his way in spite of his rival's ambitions to "turn the hospital into a laboratory". Then, while carrying out a delicate heart operation, Sir Arthur has a momentary blackout.

The Playboy Of The Western World

Synopsis: Brian Desmond Hurst adapts and directs JM Synge's legendary comedy in what was to be the final film of a highly successful career stretching back to the mid-1930s. Featuring stunning cinematography of County Kerry by multiple Oscar-winner Geoffrey Unsworth and a memorable soundtrack from influential composer Seán Ó Riada, The Playboy of the Western World stars Siobhán McKenna and Gary Raymond alongside a host of players from Dublin's Abbey Theatre. It is featured here as a brand-new High Definition transfer from original film elements in its original theatrical aspect ratio.

Weary and dishevelled, Christy Mahon stumbles into a remote inn on the Irish coast and tells anyone who'll listen how he's murdered his tyrannous father with a spade. As he enthrals the locals and charms the girls, his tale growing in its telling... until the day Christy's father turns up – and he's not as dead as expected!

The Devil-Ship Pirates

Synopsis: An action-packed adventure drama set in the summer of 1588, The Devil-Ship Pirates stars Christopher Lee in a memorable turn as the evil captain of a Spanish privateer. Stylishly directed by Don Sharp - and one of several swashbucklers made by Hammer in the 1960s - it is featured here as a High Definition restoration from original film elements in its as-exhibited Hammerscope theatrical aspect ratio.

While the British fleet is engaged in a desperate battle with the Armada, a Spanish vessel, the Diablo, puts in at a lonely inlet on the Cornish coast for emergency repairs. Finding a nearby village, the Spaniards terrorise the local population and take village girls as hostages.

The Strange World of Gurney Slade

Synopsis: Anthony Newley stars as an actor who walks off the set of a banal sit-com and into a fantasy world of his own imagination in this surreal odyssey through one man's personal alternative reality. An unpredictable, absurdist fantasy, the series was created by Newley and written by comedy legends Sid Green and Dick Hills (soon to become key writers for Morecambe and Wise).
