For the week that ended on February 27th, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's
The Croods: A New Age topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts. The DreamWorks animated sequel, in which the prehistoric family come up against the Bettermans, an apparently more evolved family, was theatrically released over the Thanksgiving holiday and became one of the few bright spots of 2020, so far making over $156 million worldwide. This week,
The Croods: A New Age had an HD share of 56%, with 5% of units sold from the 4K UHD format.
So popular is
The Croods: A New Age, that in second place on both charts is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's
The Croods: 2-Movie Collection, which collects both
The Croods: A New Age and its 2013 predecessor,
The Croods. This week,
The Croods: 2-Movie Collection sold 14% as many units as
The Croods: A New Age, with an HD share of 45%.
Dropping to third place on both charts is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's
Greenland. The disaster film, about a massive "planet killer" comet on a collision course with Earth, stars Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin and was originally planned for a theatrical release last year. Ultimately, however, a US theatrical release didn't happen because of the coronavirus pandemic, and the film only opened in select international territories, with a VOD release in the US in December 2020. Still, the film managed a highly respectable $47 million at the global box office, and received positive reviews. This week,
Greenland sold 9% as many units as
The Croods: A New Age, with an HD share of 47%.
And a special note: Warner Archive Collection cracked the top 20 with it's newly remastered release of
Pump Up the Volume, which was the No. 18 Blu-ray this week.
