Blu-ray Sales: February 7-13: Greenland Bests Freaky to Top the Charts

For the week that ended on February 13th, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Greenland topped both the Blu-ray-only and overall packaged media charts. The disaster film, about a massive "planet killer" comet on a collision course with Earth, stars Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin and was originally planned for a theatrical release last year. Ultimately, however, a US theatrical release didn't happen because of the coronavirus pandemic, and the film only opened in select international territories, with a VOD release in the US in December 2020. Still, the film managed a highly respectable $47 million at the global box office, and received positive reviews. This week, Greenland had an HD share of 50%.

Coming in second on both charts is another new release, Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Freaky. The horror comedy, starring Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton put a new spin on Freaky Friday as a serial killer ends up switching bodies with a teenage girl. Universal was able to release the film theatrically back in October 2020, where it grossed $9 million domestically and so far, just over $15 million worldwide. This week, Freaky sold 41% as many units as Greenland, with an HD share of 51%.

Dropping to third place on both charts is Universal Pictures Home Entertainment's Let Him Go. Set in the 1960s, the drama stars Diane Lane and Kevin Costner as a married couple who, grieving the death of their own son, venture from Montana to North Dakota to save their grandson from the abusive family his mother has married into. The film was released theatrically in November 2020 and topped the box office in its first weekend, eventually finishing with over $9 million domestically. This week, Let Him Go sold 20% as many units as Greenland and had an HD share of 35%.
