The British Film Institute has revealed that it plans to release on Blu-ray Peter Medak's Romeo is Bleeding (1993) and Tony Richardson's Blue Sky (1994). The two releases will arrive on the market early next year.

Please note that technical specs and exact supplemental features to be included on these upcoming releases have not yet been revealed.

Romeo Is Bleeding

Synopsis: Corrupt New York cop Jack Grimaldi (Gary Oldman) gets more than he bargained for when he's assigned to protect a scheming and seductive mob assassin (Lena Olin). In over his head, he soon finds himself entangled in a deadly game of cat-and-mouse, as his carefully constructed world of greed and deceit comes crashing down around him.

Oldman and Olin excel in this gripping neo-noir from director Peter Medak (The Krays). Co-starring Roy Scheider, Annabella Sciorra and Juliette Lewis, Romeo is Bleeding is a bold and absorbing thriller now available on Blu-ray for the first time in the UK.

STREET DATE: MARCH 8.

Blue Sky

Synopsis: Relocated to a secretive Alabama army camp, military engineer Hank (Tommy Lee Jones) is assigned to work on a series of hazardous nuclear tests. Morally compromised, Hank becomes embroiled in a dangerous conflict with his superiors as he determines to expose the testing; a complex situation compounded by the volatility of his erratic wife, Carly (Jessica Lange).

The final film by director Tony Richardson (released posthumously after his death), and featuring outstanding performances from Lee Jones as the whistle-blowing patriarch and Lange, who won an Academy Award for her role, Blue Sky is a thrilling finale to one of cinema's most distinguished and celebrated careers.

STREET DATE: JANUARY 18.
