Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has launched an all-out promotional campaign for the Blu-ray release of '
Ghostbusters', due out on June 16. The campaign includes a Blu-ray premiere screening, an invitation to submit BD-Live content, a sweepstake for tickets for the upcoming Comic-Con convention, and a printable discount coupon.
Fangoria Entertainment, Sony Pictures, Screening Services Group, and Atari are holding an "exclusive and free" Blu-ray Premiere on midnight, June 3, at the Fine Arts Theater, Beverly Hills. The high-def movie will be screened in its entirety, along with all of the Blu-ray bonus features, in the company of "surprise celebrity guests." While waiting in line, a Sony video crew will be available for fans to record their “job applications” for the Ghostbuster team and attendants will be able to be among the first to play Atari's Ghostbusters: The Video Game. Ghostbusters Is Hiring where several promotional offers can be accessed and people can register for updates.
On that site, fans can enter the "Comic-Con 2010 Sweepstakes." The grand prize consists of a trip to Comic-Con 2010 in San Diego (including plane tickets, hotel and convention admission). Other prizes include T-shirts, hats and graphic novels.
There is also a printable coupon to save $5 when you buy 'Ghostbusters' on Blu-ray.
Other upcoming site features include fan photo uploading and submission of videos from candidates to the post of "the next ghostbuster." Sony will select its favorite job applicants for eventual display within its BD-Live network.
