Vinegar Syndrome has announced its September batch of Blu-ray releases. They are: The Caller (1987), Pandemonium (1982), and Indecent Exposure (1981). Also included with this announcement is AGFA's upcoming release of Limbo (1999) and newly founded boutique label Fun City Editions' release of Alphabet City (1984).

The Caller

Synopsis: On a cold winter night, a woman living alone in the middle of the woods receives an unexpected visitor: a mysterious middle-aged man who asks to use her phone. Obliging the stranger, it soon becomes apparent that they might know more about each other than they're letting on. As hours and then days pass, the two become engaged in a series of bizarre and sinister mind games uncovering unnerving secrets along the way. All the while, the ongoing confrontation begs the question of…what mysterious events are transpiring in the nearby woods?

Sumptuously photographed by Daniele Nannuzzi (Santa Sangre), THE CALLER is a labyrinthine mystery tinged with horror and science fiction elements which stars Malcolm McDowell (A Clockwork Orange, Caligula) alongside Madolyn Smith (Urban Cowboy). One of the few theatrical features from veteran TV director Arthur Allan Seidelman and Emmy nominated writer Michael Sloan (The Equalizer), Vinegar Syndrome presents this original and unsettling piece of 80s weirdness in a brand new 2K restoration.

Special Features and Technical Specs:
  • NEW 2K RESTORATION OF THE FILM FROM 35MM INTERPOSITIVE
  • "Boiling Over" - an interview with director Arthur Allan Seidelman
  • An audio interview with writer Michael Sloan

Pandemonium

Synopsis: In 1963, a group of college cheerleading students were brutally slain by a mysterious killer, resulting in the closure of the school they attended. Now, former student and professional cheerleader, Bambi, has decided to re-open the institution. As new students arrive, it's not long before the murderer makes his presence known and the bloody hi-jinx resume. Even worse, the only hope of unmasking the culprit falls upon an overworked Canadian Mountie.

A wildly bizarre horror film parody from Alfred Sole (Alice Sweet Alice), PANDEMONIUM features an astonishing cast, including Carol Kane (When a Stranger Calls), Judge Reinhold (Fast Times at Ridgemont High), Phil Hartman (TV's Saturday Night Live) Tom Smothers (TV's The Smothers Brothers), Paul Reubens (TV's Pee-Wee's Playhouse), and Tab Hunter (Lust in the Dust)! Jam packed with bizarre humor and even stranger death sequences, Vinegar Syndrome brings this never-on-disc, early 1980s cult favorite to Blu-ray in a brand new 2K restoration!

Also along for the ride are Tony's frustrated girlfriend Lilah and his assistant, June, who begins to have feelings for Ted. But their journey takes an unexpected twist when they arrive at the home of the mysterious Ariellana…

Alphabet City

Fun City Editions is a new boutique label focused on creating deluxe home video editions of maverick repertory cinema that can best be described as works that exist "outside of their time." Spanning an array of genres and countries, but with a unifying focus on forgotten and overlooked treasures, the initial wave of titles will come from the New American Cinema. Each Fun City release will present stunning new restorations produced and overseen by Vinegar Syndrome and comprehensive extras which contextualize and illuminate the film's artistic and historic value. Vinegar Syndrome's sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

Synopsis: Johnny (Vincent Spano, Baby It's You and Over the Edge) controls the drug trade in New York's rough Alphabet City neighborhood—as long as his mob bosses let him. But, when he refuses to follow orders to torch the tenement building he grew up in, Johnny puts himself and his loved ones in their unforgiving crosshairs. No Wave filmmaker Amos Poe's (The Blank Generation and Subway Riders) neo-noir cult favorite oozes '80s neon-lit, punk-tinged style.

The innovative and vividly colorful visuals spring from the lens of cinematographer Oliver Wood (TV's Miami Vice, The Honeymoon Killers and Face/Off). Chic co-founder and dance music legend Nile Rodgers' supremely catchy synth-pop score propels the action. The cast of rising and veteran talents includes Kate Vernon (Pretty in Pink), Jami Gertz (Less Than Zero and The Lost Boys), Michael Winslow (the Police Academy series), Kenny Marino (Prince of the City and Death Wish 3) and Zohra Lampert (Let's Scare Jessica to Death and Splendor in the Grass).

Restored and available on Blu-ray for the first time, Alphabet City is an evocative cinematic snapshot of a New York City that has long since vanished.

After starring in 100 movies over the past two decades, Tina Krause has established herself as an unstoppable warrior from the DIY fringes. LIMBO is the first -- and to this day, only -- movie written and directed by Krause. And it's truly invigorating. LIMBO presents three days in the life of a woman named Elizabeth, as she deals with identity issues, sexist mouth-breathers, supernatural manifestations . . . and a possible trip to hell. Combining video collage experiments with dreamy horror mood, this is what might happen if David Lynch and Nine Inch Nails collaborated on a shot-on-video horror movie. Previously only available via VHS, AGFA and Bleeding Skull! are honored to present a brand new transfer of LIMBO from the original S-VHS master tape.

Special Features and Technical Specs:
  • NEW TRANSFER FROM THE ORIGINAL S-VHS MASTER TAPE
  • Commentary track with Tina Krause and the Bleeding Skull! team
  • Archival behind-the-scenes documentary
  • ANSWERING MACHINE short film by Tina Krause
  • Fantastic Fest Q&A
