Kino Lorber: Two Films Starring Dorothy Lamour Detailed for Blu-ray

Kino Lorber have detailed two upcoming releases of films starring Dorothy Lamour: Disputed Passage (1939) and Spawn of the North (1938). The two releases will be available for purchase on September 15.

Disputed Passage

Synopsis: Dorothy Lamour, Akim Tamiroff and John Howard star in Disputed Passage, a gripping story about the powerful healing ability of the human spirit. John Wesley Beaven (Howard), an understudy of Dr. 'Tubby' Forster (Tamiroff), esteemed professor of medicine and surgery, struggles to fully surrender to his teacher's philosophy of keeping the sterility of science separate from the warmth of the human spirit. His views are challenged after he falls in love with Lan Ying (Lamour), a Chinese woman of American descent raised in Shanghai. Upon completion of paying a personal debt to her Chinese father, she promptly returns to John to accept his marriage proposal but is interjected by Foster claiming that she would ruin his life. When John becomes aware that Foster has interfered, he sets out to find his love in China.

Spawn of the North

Synopsis: Lifelong friends Jim Kimmerlee (Henry Fonda) and Tyler Dawson (George Raft) are fishermen in Alaska, but they find themselves in conflict over pirates who steal fish from nets. While Jim, who is successful and owns his own cannery, sides with a group of fishermen intent on defending their livelihood with deadly force, Tyler, on the other hand, has joined up with Russian fishing pirate Red Skain (Akim Tamiroff), despite the protests of his girlfriend, Nicky (Dorothy Lamour).
