The Road to Wellville
Synopsis: Academy Award®-winner Anthony Hopkins leads an all-star cast including Bridget Fonda, Matthew Broderick, John Cusack and Dana Carvey in this inventive, high-energy comedy filled with hilarious laughs and bawdy fun.
Presiding over the renowned Battle Creek Sanitarium is the visionary cornflake inventor and health-craze huckster Dr. John Harvey Kellogg (Hopkins). Seeking to improve their health – and their marriage – are Eleanor (Fonda), Kellogg's spellbound devotee, and Will (Broderick), her reluctant but devoted husband. What doesn't kill them in this spa/hospital/grand hotel will only make them stronger as they make their way through an obstacle course of sexual temptations, mechanical contraptions and dietary breakthroughs. Filled with outrageous methodology and hilarious hijinks, this "sumptuously photographed turn-of-the-century comedy with a fine cast" (San Francisco Chronicle) will make you double over ... with laughter!
STREET DATE: JUNE 23.
Three Christs
Synopsis: Richard Gere leads a tremendous cast in a fascinating and moving exploration of the human mind, based on a remarkable true story.
In 1959, psychiatrist Dr. Alan Stone (Richard Gere) arrives at a mental hospital in Ypsilanti, Michigan armed with the radical belief that schizophrenic patients should be treated not with confinement and electroshock therapy but with empathy and understanding. As his first study, he takes on the particularly challenging case of three men — Joseph (Peter Dinklage, Game Of Thrones), Leon (Walton Goggins, The Hateful Eight), and Clyde (Bradley Whitford, The West Wing) — each of whom believes he is Jesus Christ. Hoping that by getting them together in the same room to confront their delusions he can break through to them, Dr. Stone begins a risky, unprecedented experiment that will push the boundaries of psychiatric medicine and leave everyone involved — including Dr. Stone himself — profoundly changed.
Princess Caraboo
Synopsis: Dressed in strange clothes and speaking no English, a mysterious woman (Phoebe Cates, Gremlins) is arrested in the English countryside. But a sympathetic aristocrat welcomes the young woman into her home, believing that she is actually a foreign princess. And when high society comes calling, everyone falls under the spell of the irresistible Princess Caraboo. But is she a royal treasure or a royal imposter? The real-life mystery unfolds with comedy and romance as this "captivating plot ... keeps you guessing until the film's last moment. A splendid surprise" (Michael Medved, Sneak Previews)!
