For the week that ended on April 4th, Lucasfilm and Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Star Wars: Episode IX - The Rise of Skywalker premiered at the number-one spot on both the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. The controversial finale to the "Skywalker Saga," The Rise of Skywalker made a big box-office splash following its December release. While the film scored mediocre critical notices (it has a 53% approval rating on Metacritic), it still grossed over $1 billion worldwide on top of its estimated $275-million production budget. This week, The Rise of Skywalker had a strong HD market share of 79%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings was Universal Studios Home Entertainment's 1917. Director Sam Mendes' technically impressive WWI saga, 1917 was a strong performer for Universal following its December release. The film scored good critical reactions (it has a 78% approval rating on Metacritic), and it then went on to gross almost $368 million worldwide on top of its estimated $90-to-$100-million production budget. 1917 had a Blu-ray market share of 56% and sold 11% as many Blu-rays and 15% as many total units as 1917.

Finally, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Jumanji: The Next Level rounded out the top three on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. The latest installment in the billion-dollar-grossing Jumanji, The Next Level was a robust hit for its distributors last December. The film scored okay critical plaudits (it has a 58% approval rating on Metacritic) and then grossed almost $797 million worldwide on top of its estimated $125-million production budget. Jumanji had an HD market share of 48% and sold 9% as The Rise of Skywalker. Regarding the overall package-media list, the film came in second place (knocking 1917 down to third place) and sold 15% as many total units as the Star Wars sequel.
