Raro Video: Four More Italian Genre Titles Heading to Blu-ray

Raro Video has revealed that it will add four more Italian genre titles to its Blu-ray catalog. They are: Star Pilot (1966), The Bachelor (1955), Le Soldatesse (1965), and The Scent of the Night (1998).

Star Pilot a.k.a. 2+5: Missione Hydra

Synopsis: Aliens from the constellation Hydra crash-land on the island of Sardinia. A prominent scientist, his daughter, several young technicians, and a pair of Oriental spies are taken hostage by the beings so they can use them to repair their spaceship's broken engine. With that done, they take off towards their home planet, taking the earthlings with them. However, the humans attempt to mutiny against their captors, inadvertently sending their tiny spaceship hurtling into the infinite beyond. Directed by Pietro Francisci, and starring Leonora Ruffo, Mario Novelli, Roland Lesaffre, Kirk Morris, and Mirella Pamphili. Soundtrack by Nico Fidenco (Teorema).

The Bachelor

Synopsis: Paolo Anselmi is a happily single man. He lives in a flat with a friend but is forced to leave when the friend gets married. He then goes to a boarding house where he flirts with a girl but ditches her when she proposes marriage. When he goes and visits his mother he finds out that she is also trying to find the right girl for him. Is he going to surrender this time? Directed by Antonio Pietrangeli, and starring Alberto Sordi, Sandra Milo, and Nino Manfredi. Cinematography by Gianni Di Venanzo (Federico Fellini's 8˝).

Le Soldatesse a.k.a. The Camp Followers

Synopsis: In WWII, Lieut. Martino and his men are assigned to lead a group of prostitutes through the mountainous ways to serve in brothels for Italian soldiers in Albania. Directed by Valerio Zurlini, and starring Mario Adorf, Anna Karina, Marie Laforęt, Lea Massari, and Tomas Milian. Cinematography by Tonino Delli Colli (Once Upon a Time in America).

The Scent of the Night

Synopsis: A former policeman turns full-time criminal and goes on a downward spiral of crime in the 1990s Rome. Based on Dido Sacchettoni's best-selling novel. Directed by Claudio Caligari, and starring Valerio Mastandrea, Marco Giallini, Giorgio Tirabassi, and Alessia Fugardi. Cinematography by Maurizio Calvesi (Loose Cannons).
