iTunes Beta Includes Mention of Blu-ray

Apple has released the latest beta version of the popular music manager program iTunes to developers, and some attentive reviewers caught an interesting revision to the Gracenotes legal notice. The updated copyright info now makes reference to data supplied for Blu-ray discs, indicating that the popular computer and software manufacturer may begin supporting the high definition format.

Before getting too excited, this may just simply be a standard legal notice that comes with an updated Gracenotes capability, and not necessarily an indication of a new feature. For instance, iTunes currently isn't a DVD player, yet the legal notice also mentions DVD data.

With an Apple event scheduled for this summer, we'll likely have to wait until then to hear about any formal adoption of Blu-ray. Don't throw away those external drives yet - but there could be Blu at the end of this rainbow.
