For the week that ended on October 26th, Walt Disney Home Entertainment's newest iteration of The Lion King debuted at number one on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. The latest live-action opportunity for Disney to remake its animated back catalog, The Lion King was one of 2019's biggest success stories. Although the film scored mediocre critical notices (it has a 55% rating on Metacritic), it ended up grossing over $1.6 billion worldwide on top of its estimated $250-260-million production budget. This week, The Lion King had a terrific HD market share of 79%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings was another Disney title: Toy Story 4. Ostensibly the final film in the Toy Story franchise, this fourth entry connected with both critics and audience last July. The film garnered very strong critical notices (it has a Metacritic score of 84%), and it earned over $1 billion worldwide on top of its estimated $200 million production budget. Toy Story 4 had a solid Blu-ray market share of 65% and sold 15% as many Blu-rays and 19% as many total units as The Lion King.

Finally, Warner Home Entertainment's Wonder Woman: Bloodlines rounded out the top three on the Blu-ray-only list. The newest animated superhero film from Warner and DC Animated, Bloodlines takes its cue from the New 52 story line in the comic book in terms of where viewers meet the title character. Bloodlines had a great HD market share of 100% and sold 6% as many Blu-rays as The Lion King. Regarding the overall package-media chart, the film came in seventh place and sold 4% as many total units as the Disney smash.
