Magnolia Home Entertainment has officially announced its upcoming double-feature release of The Wave/The Quake. The release will be available for purchase on November 5.
The very day geologist Kristian Elkjord (Kristoffer Joner, Mission: Impossible - Fallout) is going to drive his wife (Ane Dahl Torp, Pioneer) and children to their new life in the city, he senses something is wrong with Åkerneset, the mountain that overlooks his scenic town of Geiranger. Despite his best efforts, no one wants to believe that this could be the day an inescapable tsunami engulfs the city, especially with tourist season at its peak. But, when a landslide from the mountain sends tons of rock and earth crashing into the sea, everyone has merely 10 minutes to get to higher ground before a 300-foot wave hits the town, consuming everything in its path.
"An impressive, thunderous nerve-racker" (Variety) from director Roar Uthaug (Tomb Raider), The Wave is "Certified Fresh" by Rotten Tomatoes.
A sequel from the producers of The Wave, The Quake follows Kristian (Joner) as he once again attempts to save his family from the brutality of Mother Nature. Now in the Oslo-region, the most seismic active area in northern Europe, Kristian learns that the fate of the city is on the line when the land forewarns a massive earthquake. Once the inevitable strikes, Kristian must race against the clock to save the love of his life, Idun (Torp), and daughter (Edith Haagenrud-Sande, "The Third Eye") from a collapsing skyscraper.
Director John Andreas Andersen's feature film debut, The Quake offers "visceral thrills" (The Hollywood Reporter), "excellent cinematography and awe-inspiring effects" (Film Threat).
