For the week that ended on October 5th, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment and Marvel's Spider-Man: Far from Home took the number-one spot on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. A sequel to both Spider-Man: Homecoming and Avengers: Endgame, Far from Home was one of 2018's biggest hits. The film netted decent critical notices (a Metacritic score of 69%, for example) and made over $1.1 billion worldwide on top of its estimated $160 million production budget. This week, Spider-Man had a terrific HD market share of 80%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only sales rankings was Lionsgate Home Entertainment's John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum. This third installment in the John Wick action franchise did well with both critics and audiences last May. The film garnered good critical notices (it has a 73% rating on Metacritic), and it ended up grossing $171 million domestically on top of its estimated $75-million production budget. John Wick had a good Blu-ray market share of 63% and sold 8% as many Blu-rays as Far from Home. On the overall package-media list, the film came in third place (behind Hocus Pocus) and sold 10% as many total units as the Spider-Man sequel.

Finally, Walt Disney Home Entertainment's recent Aladdin rounded out the Blu-ray-only sales rankings. The latest live-action opportunity for Disney to remake its animated back catalog, Aladdin was quietly one of 2019's biggest success stories. Although the film scored mediocre critical notices (it has a 53% rating on Metacritic), it ended up grossing over $1 billion worldwide on top of its estimated 183-million production budget. Aladdin had a solid HD market share of 66% and sold 7% as many Blu-rays as Spider-Man: Far from Home. Regarding the overall package-media chart, the film came in fourth place and sold 9% as many total units as the Marvel and Sony hit.
