For the week that ended on September 21st, Twentieth Century Fox and Walt Disney Home Entertainment's X-Men: Dark Phoenix debuted at number one on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. The last film in Fox's long-running X-Men franchise, Dark Phoenix struggled to connect with critics and audiences. The film netted mediocre critical notices (a 43% score on Metacritic) and grossed $65 million domestically on top of its estimated $200-million production budget. This week, Dark Phoenix had a very solid Blu-ray market share of 69%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings was Walt Disney Home Entertainment's recent Aladdin. The latest live-action opportunity for Disney to remake its animated back catalog, Aladdin was quietly one of 2019's biggest success stories. Although the film scored mediocre critical notices (it has a 53% rating on Metacritic), it ended up grossing over $1 billion worldwide on top of its estimated 183-million production budget. Aladdin had a good Blu-ray market share of 66% and sold 88% as many Blu-rays and 92% as many total units as Dark Phoenix.

Finally, Lionsgate Home Entertainment's John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum rounded out the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales rankings. This third installment in the John Wick action franchise did well with both critics and audiences last May. The film garnered good critical notices (it has a 73% rating on Metacritic), and it ended up grossing $171 million domestically on top of its estimated $75-million production budget.. The film had a solid HD market share of 64% and sold 81% as many Blu-rays as Dark Phoenix. Regarding the overall package-media chart, the film sold 88% as many total units as the X-Men sequel.
