For the week that ended on September 1st, Sony Pictures Home Entertainment's Men in Black: International debuted at number one on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. This soft rebootquel to the Men in Black franchise underperformed for the studio last summer. The film scored poor critical notices (it has 38% rating on Metacritic), and it ended up grossing $79 million domestically on top of its estimated 110-million production budget. This week, Men in Black: International had a terrific decent Blu-ray market share of 93%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only sales ranking was Marvel and Walt Disney Home Entertainment's Avengers: Endgame. The MCU's massive, three-hour conclusion to eleven years of cinematic serialized narratives, Endgame did well with both critics and audiences last April. The film scored good critical notices (it has a 78% rating on Metacritic), and it ended up grossing almost $2.8 billion worldwide on top of its estimated $356-million production budget. Avengers: Endgame had a solid Blu-ray market share of 71% and sold 62% as many Blu-rays as Men in Black. On the overall package-media chart, the film came in fourth place and sold 82% as many total units as as the Men in Black reboot.

Finally, Warner Home Entertainment's Godzilla: King of the Monsters rounded out the top three on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media sales lists. A direct sequel to the 2014 Godzilla and the latest installment in Warner and Legendary's Godzilla/Kong franchise, King of the Monsters wasn't the surefire hit the studio wanted last summer. The film scored mediocre critical notices (note its 48% rating on Metacritic), and it ended up grossing $100 million domestically on top of its estimated 170-million production budget (although it did net an extra $275 million overseas). The film had an HD market share of 59% and sold 58% as many Blu-rays as Men in Black: International. Regarding the overall package-media chart, the film came in second place and sold 92% as many total units as Men in Black.
