For the week that ended on August 10th, Warner Home Entertainment's Detective Pikachu debuted at number one on the Blu-ray-only and overall package-media charts. This sci-fi family adventure - which stars Ryan Reynolds as the title character - was a modest success following its release last May. The film scored so-so critical notices (it has a 53% rating on Metacritic), and it ended up grossing $144 million domestically on top of its estimated $150-million production budget, although the film did much better overseas, grossing $287 million internationally. This week, Pikachu had a solid Blu-ray market share of 66%.

Next up on the Blu-ray-only sales ranking was Warner Home Entertainment's Batman: Hush. The latest superhero story from Warner and DC Animated, Hush is an adaptation of the iconic Jeph Loeb comic series which pits the Caped Crusader against the manipulative title character. Hush had a great Blu-ray market share of 100% and sold 31% as many Blu-rays as Detective Pikachu. On the overall package-media chart, the film came in third place (behind Disney's DVD-only Descendants 3 release) and sold 21% as many total units as Pikachu.

Finally, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment's Alita: Battle Angel rounded out the top three on the Blu-ray-only sales list. Written by James Cameron and directed by Robert Rodriguez, this visually stunning sci-fi epic struggled to connect with domestic audiences following its release last February. The film only scored mediocre critical notices (it has a 53% rating on Metacritic), and it ended up grossing almost $86 million domestically on top of its estimated $170-million production budget (that said, the film did much better overseas, to the tune of a $319-million international gross). Regarding the Blu-ray-only sales list, the film had a very solid HD market share of 73% and sold 21% as many Blu-rays as Pikachu. On the overall package-media rankings, Alita came in fourth place and sold 19% as many total units as Detective Pikachu.
